Every suitable precaution must be taken to ensure that no such elements are inadvertently added via the scrap or via other substances used for manufacture; percentages of companion elements are however permissible provided that the specified values of mechanical properties and of hardenability are satisfied, and that the usability of the product is not impaired
②In the case of steel melted or remelted under vacuum, the manganese content may be allowed to drop slightly below the lower limit specified.
③In the case of melting or remelting according to the electroslag process, the phosphorus and sulphur contents shall each be ≤ 0.015 %.
