• 1/4H、1/2H、H、EH—The various harder tempers produced by cold rolling. For certain of the materials in this standard, these tempers may be produced by partial annealing.
• SH、ESH—Spring hard tempers produced by cold rolling of thinner material.
• W—Material that has been solution heat treated and will respond effectively to precipitation treatment.
• W(1/4H)、W(1/2H)、W(H)—Material that has been solution heat treated and subsequently cold worked to various harder tempers.
• W(1/4H)P、W(1/2H)P、W(H)P—Material that has been solution heat treated, cold worked and then precipitation treated.
• Wm—Mill-hardened material. Material that has been heat treated by the manufacturer and does not require further heat treatment. Designations for mill-hardened material are not necessarily indicative of the method of manufacture.
• W(1/4H)m、W(1/2H)m、W(H)m、W(EH)m、W(ESH)m—solution heat treatment and cold worked 1/4 hard and mill-hardened state, requiring no additional processing.
